Canon EOS R in London
London with the Canon EOS R
I took a long walk around Central London in the summer with the Canon EOS and tested the mic, took pictures and videos. I believe the EOS R is the Perfect Upgrade from the Canon 7D Mark II.
Cinematic graded
Gear: Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Lens, no tripod, digital stabiliser
It is an enigma wrapped in a riddle.
Before buying the EOS R I went through the usual stages of comparing the specs with other Canon DSLRs and mirrorless cameras. There are reviews out there hailing the camera is the best thing since sliced bread. Other reviewers point out its flaws and claim that it could not even compare to Sony’s A7iii.
It is a give and take relationship with this camera. Meaning that you give £3,000 only for Canon to take away features that would make the camera complete. For one, it is a full-frame camera that turns into a crop sensor when shooting in 4k. It shoots in 60fps but only in 1080p. Why! Why would Canon do this to us?
You cannot always trust your first impressions.
With the EOS R do not judge the book by its cover or what is written in it. I was just as confused you probably are right now but let me explain. To my surprise, the picture quality from the EOS R is better than Sony’s A7iii. The colours are fuller on the EOS R, it gives you those unrivaled Canon colours. There is no other way to describe it than to say the pictures and videos captured on the Canon are just more beautiful.
In my humble opinion, the reason that we all buy a camera is to capture the most beautiful moving and still shots. The Canon EOS R does just that.
UMTELE Phone Telephoto Camera Lens Kit Review
There are a number of videos online reviewing this product so let us try to look at them through a different lens (pun intended).
The product is advertised as a telephoto lens it really should be an smartphone lens and accessory kit.
Lens Clips
The telephoto lens kit comes with two clips for attaching the lenses to your phone; I would advise you to always use the smaller lens because the bigger lens needs to be adjusted and creates extra hassle.
Lenses
180° Fisheye Lens
To use the 180° fisheye lens change your camera option to square.
Wide Angle Lens & Macro Lens
I used the wide angle and macro lens together. The wide angle lens does what it says on the tin and provides a fuller frame as you can see in the video above.
Telephoto Lens
The telephoto lens does give you about 12 times the zoom of the normal phone lens. the lens is hard to place of the phone camera and you make have to adjust the clip accordingly.
Unfortunately the lenses cause the image to lose some of its colour and clarity so the lenses are not perfect but they work well for the price.
Remote Shutter and Tripod
I was pleasantly surprised by the remote shutter and the tripod.
I believe the tripod is particularly useful – it is not the most sturdy tripod in the world so you get what you pay for nevertheless it is extremely useful for taking live pictures. It also works well for Facetime, just set up the phone and tripod and you can freely move around.
The remote shutter could be sold as its own product. It is like the next level to taking selfies. The combination of the tripod and remote shutter is perfect for group photos.
The UMTELE phone camera lens kit is a great holiday accessory; no longer does someone have to stand poolside while taking a picture of everyone else.
